Question: I was wondering if some of you would share your resale experiences with me. Sue
and I are looking to add to our OKW points and would like to know who you have
dealt with for your resale purchases. I have visited the Timeshare store and
was wondering how firm those posted prices are and how much closing cost run.
Also was wondering if anyone has purchased right from another owner like the
ones posting points for sale on floridavip.com. Thanks in advance for any info.
Answer: I bought my original membership thru the Timeshare Store. The prices shown are
the "listed" price - you make an offer and they will get with the seller & see
if he agrees (just like buying a house). Closing costs run about $450-500 now,
I think, although on the smaller packages (under 100 pts maybe) I think it's
closer to $275. If you call or e-mail them, they'll give you all the info you
ask for with no pressure at all. I've added on 3 times, and have always done
so thru Disney since it's been for smaller amount of points, and the closing
costs would have negated any savings from buying a resale I just added points to my OKW account going through the Timeshare Store.
Everything went great. The advantage for me was that the point I added were
the same use year month as my others, and they were a OKW. I paid $55/point
and picked up an additional 150 points. Closing went smooth, the Timeshare
Store, Closing Company, and Disney were all very helpful is expediting the
closing.
