Need DVC timeshare reseller info
|
Question: Need some info from those of you familiar with DVC in the reseller market.
I have a friend who is mildly interested in a DVC purchase.
Is it possible to buy less than 150 in the timeshare reseller market? Whats
the going approximate rate? Do any of these companies have a page on the
web?
Answer: It is not possible to purchase less than 150 points, unless you are already an
owner of at least 150 points. In other words, you must first become a member -
which means a purchase of at least 150 points, and then you can "add on" in
smaller increments. There are occassionally "add on" contracts up for resale -
generally 50-100 points each, but they are few & far between. I've dealt with
the Timeshare Store in Orlando. They're very good, and many dvc members have
bought from them. Disney has right of first refusal. 150 points is the minimum for any
member to own at any given time. Only existing members may purchase
and/or sell less than 150 point increments.
The resale market seems to offer points for around $55-$58/point. Then
you have to add closing costs to the purchase. The smaller the package,
the higher the per point cost, because there will be more prospective
buyers. I've seen very large points packages offered at $50/point.
Here's a reseller: http://www.timesharesale.com/
