Question: I am interested in purchaseing a resale timeshare in Hawaii
Would like a 1-2 bedroom unit in a five star/goldcrown resort during
high season. Floating time would be nice.Any suggestion
Answer: I don't have a resale to offer, but here is some free advice:
Buy a timeshare in the USA. Why? Because you'll have all the protection
of US law in your ownership. And you'll be set to trade for time at any
of hundreds of Hawaii resorts.
Your preference for "five star/glodcrown" is a very good idea.
You'll pay a bit more, but you'll get much better trading power,
as well as increased resale vale.
If you plan to trade, do NOT go for floating time. The reason for this is
that you can bank fixed time for trading up to a year ahead of your time,
which give you greater trading power plus the ability to plan further ahead.
If you have "floating time" you can't bank it until your week for the year
gets assigned, which may be much less than a year ahead.
We own a week at Club la Pension in New Orleans. Originally our week "floated",
but we changed this two years ago. With advanced planning and patience we've
managed to trade into places that the RCI agents told us were just about
impossible. Then, a few weeks later, the confirmation arives in the mail.
