Timeshare Presentation question
|
Question: Just got back from a great first time trip to the Rio. On check in got
suckered up to one of the 'show ticket' promotion booths. Mistakenly
thought they might be offering a 2 for 1 on a show I might be
interested in. As the conversation progressed on how they could give
me the Ron Lucas tickets absolutely free....and more, my senses
started to come back after the 4 hour drive.
'This isn't anything connected with a timeshare?' I asked, half
knowing the answer.
'Why yes, we are the Fairfield' was the somewhat startled response.
Like the word Fairfield over the booth is supposed to mean anything to
someone from L.A.
There was a quick addition......'there's no pressure'
Somehow, to me, the words 'timeshare' and 'no pressure' just don't
belong in the same sentence.
I have no interest in owning a timeshare and no interest in collecting
freebies from a timeshare presentation.
I DO think timeshare booths should be more upfront with the game plan
and not disguise themselves as discount show ticket booths.
Shame on the Rio.
After walking away with a sour taste in my mouth I quickly diluted it
with a cold beer and forgot the whole incident enjoying my stay at
the Rio.
Any one else have any comments on this subject?
Answer: We always stay at the Rio. I believe the timeshare people started their
hustling when Harrahs took over the Rio a couple of years ago.
Whenever walking past these guys, I try to make a small detour away from
where they are located and try to put a few other people between me and
them. Hopefully, they will attach themselves to the people who are closer.
Sure, you can just say "no thanks" or wave them off, but if you are walking
past them several times a day, it gets old.
Even knowing that these guys are there, every once in a while I get
distracted by something else; and before I know it, there they are acting
friendly and asking questions. I personally would never get involved in a
timeshare presentation. My time in Las Vegas is too valuable to me for
that. But, I am always amazed at how many people are very interested in
what these timeshare people have to say when they realize that there is
something free (tickets, buffets, whatever) involved.
