www.televisionpreview.com will try to sell me timeshares

Question:

I received in the mail yesterday, it was 4 tickets to go see and review new tv shows. The date is some time in July. I have never heard of this at all. They do have a website, but I'm a little skeptical that I'll go and they will try to sell me timeshares. The website is www.televisionpreview.com . Anyone else ever hear of this?

Answer:

I went to one of these a few weeks ago at the Crown Plaza. It's a legit company that gathers consumer opionions.

We sat through two television pilots, and a few commericials, and had to fill out questionnaires on what we liked/disliked about the shows.

They don't try to sell you anything, and 4 people win a gift basket of products that they mail to you afterwards. Of course, there were about 200 people there, so the "prize" incentive isn't that great.

Basically, they're getting free market research data, because they don't pay you anything to be there.

It was somewhat interesting, but not overly so.
