Orlando Timeshare Vacations

did the high pressure tour and sales pitch in Orlando Fl, nice place, value?

thanks for your inputs..

Answer:

We have two time-share properties. We like the concept because we are forced to think ahead to plan vacations we might not otherwise take. We usually request trades to see new places. Half of the fun is in the planning. The first time-share we bought 13 years ago. The concept was good, but in reality it hasn't worked as advertised, although we have managed to get a vacation out of it each year. There were 10 resorts we could select from, without having to go through a trading network. After a couple years, the number of resorts diminished, so we had to resort to trades. Some have been wonderful, even a five-star resort on a Florida beach Christmas week; others have seemed like cheap apartments in not-so-desirable locations. We purchased our other time share four years ago. It is owned by a major deluxe hotel chain, and has been much better. There are lots of additional fees (maintenance, trade fees, dues to a trading network, etc.) so don't count on this as being an inexpensive way to travel. We have not tried to trade outside of the hotel properties, but we would be able to. Trading to properties owned by other companies might be harder, however, as we did not purchase prime season. There is also the option to pay maintenance fees, but not use the property each year, and accumulate "points" for other travel ... air, car, packages, etc. We have done that, and are planning a wonderful vacation this year with the points. The one draw-back we have found is getting air on our own. Occasionally packages are advertised which include a hotel stay for about the same price we have had to pay for our separate air. Yet, on the whole, having time-shares has "forced" us to plan some wonderful vacations. Because of our time-shares we have seen Puerta Vallarta, Grand Cayman, the Bahamas, Vail and Beaver Creek, Sanibel Island, Aruba, Phoenix, Hilton Head, Australia, and are looking forward to going to the Poconos, as well as using our "free" air from points to go to South Ameria.
