Timeshare Deals in Hawaii
|
Question: First, some timeshare background. My wife and I go to Hawaii
for one week every year. This place is timeshare central. Everyone
there seems to work for the tourism industry.
Here is what happened on our last visit. We fly in, and go to the
Hertz rental desk. Pick up a car for a good price ($169 for the week),
and after we sign the deal, she dells us she can comp the car for the
week if we go to a timeshare presentation. We say sure, and give her $20 to make sure we show up.
Then we go to our resort. After check in, she asks if we would like to
attend a sales presentation. We say no, we already signed up for one
tomorrow morning. "What did they offer you?", she asks. A free rental
car for 7 days, we reply. I can pay for your car and give you an ATV
tour through the jungle for 4 if your go to our sales pitch. Let me
see your paperwork for the rental car and I will pay them directly. "I
also gave them $20 to make sure I show up." She hands me a US $20
bill, and says she will call to cancel the other appointment.
Wow, that was a long story! My actual question is very short. Are
there any good deals like this in Hawaii? Like 4 or 7 days in a nice
place, a free car, or a nice wad of cash? Everything I hear in this
website is very negative regarding the timeshare deals.
Answer: I haven't heard of anything that good, but I have heard good things
about the Tahiti Villiage timeshare offer (that's the Tanya Roberts
pitche). Two free nights stay + two show tickets to something
reasonable. Yes, but you have to share the room with Tanya R. and Sally Struthers.
Root canal is more pleasant.
