Question about Discount Timeshare Rentals
|
Question: I was at Orlando 2 weeks ago and they were selling discount tickets for
attractions like Disney and Universal. The vendors said they were
"timeshare rentals" and would not sell them to me because I'm not American. Can
somebody explain what it was all about? I'm just curious.
Answer: I personally love going to timeshare presentations. I think it's a blast.
I go early, so it makes me get up early, so I get out of there about the
time I would be getting out of the hotel if I didn't have to get up to go to
the timeshare. I wouldn't buy one, though. One of the most recent ones I
went to, I tried to get the guy to talk about the time value of money, and
he got all bent out of shape. No wonder.
Be sure to remind people that if they really want one they can buy it on the
resale market. Still have to pay maintenance fees, though.
What I want to know is, what are escapes. I understand that if you're a
member of RCI you can do these things called escapes, which involves
spending a week at a timeshare somewhere for a fee, without giving up your
timeshare week. But I don't understand how it works and what the rules are.
