looking into buying a timeshare
|
Question: I've been looking into buying a timeshare and one of the selling
points many resorts use is the ability to trade your week for a
cruise. I don't anticipate buying a timeshare only to trade it every
year for a cruise. I was just wondering if anyone here had traded a
week for a cruise, and what kind of deal they got on their cruise?
Thanks
Answer: I own a single timeshare week, and while I am generally happy with it, I
would not buy another.
I have looked into trading it for a cruise a couple of times, but my
experience (via RCI) is that I can get a much better deal on a cruise
if I book it outside the timeshare. HOwever, the timeshare allows
for you to get the timeshare price for 6 people (three rooms). It might
be of value in that circumstance, but I would not be likely to use it that way. I just looked at RCI's information, and there are very few cruises that you
can get for exchange that are less expensive that way than they are if you
get them on Travelocity.
I think it's not a good trade.
