Bermuda Timeshare Rentals
|
Question: My fiancee and I will be honeymooning on Bermuda cruise the end of November.
I have a question for all of you who have been there, done that... well,
actually the honeymoon part is not a pre-requisite for answering the
question
Should we bring our own snorkeling equipment, or use the local rentals?
Doing lots of snorkeling is high on the list of plans (probably number 3),
and so I figure we'll go at least 3 or 4 times. So the snorkel equipment is
actually already included in the cost.
But, the rest of the time, it'd be an extra expense to rent, and
from what I hear, it's not cheap. So, we're thinking of buying our own
equipment, probably about $125 each, and then having it for the next trip,
and we won't have to put our faces where who-knows-who put their face and
mouth before us
Since we also have a timeshare in Hawaii (which we've not used yet), we'll
probably get use out of the equipment.
Any sage advise to offer? Should we spring for bring our own, ye or nay?
Answer: I'd recommend getting a good mask and snorkel, but leave the fins at home. A
good fit on a mask is very important, self draining snorkels are nice, but
fins, IMHO, are interchangeable, if even needed, for snorkeling. If you plan
to scuba dive, however, you'd want some good quality dive fins. Depends upon where that mouthpiece has been before you clamp your lips
around it. As for my wife and I, life's too short to worry about whether or
not that water bucket they keep them in really does have a good disinfectant
in it. Fork out the bucks ($124ea. sounds high) and get some decent
equipment that is your own.
We put ours in an expandable bag and off we go. I've got a moustache, and
was lucky to find a goggle type mask that didn't require me to "lube up" my
lip with Vaseline in order to get a good seal.
